Spread The Message

We encourage you to spread the important message about donation with everyone you know: family, friends, employers, employees, colleagues, neighbors and so on!

Listed below are a few ways you can spread the message throughout the year.
National Eye Donor Month
(moved to the month of November)

President Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first NEDM in 1983 and since then a member of Congress has read a proclamation into the Congressional record each March to note this special occasion.

  • Bake blue and green Donate Life themed cookies and treats to hand out to friends, family and colleagues during St. Patrick's Day
  • Send an email to your friends and colleagues. Remind them of your connection to cornea donation and encourage them to register as donors on the Donate Life Texas Registry
National Donate Life Month

Celebrated in April each year, NDLM features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage individuals to register as organ, eye and tissue donors on their state donor registry.

  • Distribute San Antonio Eye Bank's Donate Life brochures in your company's break room, home owner's association gatherings, church choir rehearsals, etc. Contact us to receive brochures, free of charge
  • Visit our Facebook page to learn about events hosted during the month as well as to share videos and photos posted to highlight donation and transplantation
National Donate Life Blue & Green Day

During this day, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green, hold events and fundraisers, and partner with local restaurants, malls, media, and community organizations in an effort to promote the success of organ, eye and tissue transplantation and the need for registered donors.

  • Visit Donate Life America's webpage to learn about the date the event occurs annually, fun contests and more
Donate Life E.C.H.O.

Donate Life E.C.H.O. Every Community Has Opportunity is a nationwide two-week observance celebrated during the month of July. The observance aims to educate and empower multicultural communities on the need for organ, eye and tissue donors.

  • Partner with a local restaurant to host a Donate Life ECHO night. Ask the restaurant is you can set up a Donate Life Table and help people join the donor registry
  • Make it a personal goal to talk to someone about donation at least once a day throughout the two-week observance
National Donor Sabbath & Bridging Lives, Dia de los Muertos

National Donor Sabbath is three day observance that occurs during the month of November. The observance seeks to include houses of worship for major religions practiced in the U.S., in order for congregations to come together to learn about and celebrate donation and transplantation, and pray for those affected by it.

  • Host a Donate Life awareness table at your house of worship or prayer breakfast.

Bridging Lives, Dia de los Muertos Donor families are invited to decorate a Bridging Lives Altar with photos and mementos at a community event in San Antonio as a part of Dia de los Muertos.

Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead celebrates death as part of the human experience and honors the lives of the deceased with festivals and lively celebrations. For more information on decorating the Bridging Lives Altar, please call or email us.
